The testimony of Guido del Fante, victim of two incidents in Pistoia
«"FOR MONTHS I was so, so scared, for myself and my family. Then I calmed down, but the repetition of these events always generates anguish." Guido Del Fante, a young man from Agliana and president of the Apois association of Agliana, founded in December 2008 with the aim of eliminating all forms of social discrimination, was the victim of two homophobic incidents, in 2006 in Pistoia and in 2009 in Agliana. "In 2006, I went to play football with other kids in an area of Sant'Agostino known as a gay hangout," Del Fante recounts. "We were just playing, but a car came towards us as if it wanted to run us over to intimidate us. We ran away. I later discovered that a student I knew was in that car. In that case, we didn't file a complaint. Instead, I reported what happened to me in 2009, because it happened in front of my house," the young president of Apois recounts. It happened in September, before the candlelight vigil against homophobia organized in Pistoia. […] It is necessary, however, for the institutions to mobilize and for us to finally sit down at a serious table to develop policies to prevent and condemn these incidents. Guido Del Fante also thanks the bishop of Pistoia for his solidarity with Federico: "It's the first time the church has done so," he says. Piera Salvi
