A one-of-a-kind event: a true Pride involving local students
It took place today Casoria Freedom – March for Rights Against Discrimination, the day after the World Day Against Homophobia, Lesbophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, Now in its second year, the march has already become a well-established event in Casoria to combat discrimination and violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity. This march is effectively a Pride event, unique in that it involves local schools.
A somewhat subdued march, due to the city's mourning for the sudden death of a 16-year-old boy from anaphylactic shock, but strongly desired and confirmed by the administration and organizers, who expressed solidarity with the mourning family.
With this demonstration, the Casoria administration reiterates its opposition to all forms of hatred and discrimination, particularly those based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Present at the event the Mayor Raffaele Bene and the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture Gaetano Palumbo as well as many members of the City Council. Also present Luca Trapanese, Vice President of the Campania Region, who brought his personal story as a single homosexual parent to the stage. Also touching was the speech by Siro Nespola, a teacher and citizen of Casoria as well as a queer activist who sent a message of love and freedom to the students.
“It was important – he declares Antonello Sannino, President of Antinoo Arcigay Naples – remembering that the city of Casoria supports the LGBTQI+ community all year round, not only during the march but also with a regional law against homo-Lebso-bi-transphobia and an anti-discrimination center and shelter that will soon open in the area.".
The initiative was wanted by Antinoo Arcigay Naples And Arci Mediterraneo together with the Municipality of Casoria within the scope of the As.SO Project. with the support of Youth Construction Site, Italian Red Cross – North Naples Committee, Civil Protection "Le Aquile"“ And Pro Loco Insieme.
