PRESS RELEASE
Salerno hosts the regional Rainbow Family Festival at Mercatello Park.
Arcigay Salerno “Marcella Di Folco” is pleased and proud to host the Regional Rainbow Families Festival on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Mercatello Park in Salerno. The event will be held on the International Day Against Homophobia, Lesbian, and Transphobia.

The day, scheduled from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, will be dedicated to families, rights, sharing, and the creation of inclusive spaces through activities, workshops, and meetings open to the public, with particular attention to children, adolescents, and their families.
“"We are delighted to host this important initiative in Salerno," said Emanuele Avagliano, president of Arcigay Salerno, "on a deeply symbolic date for the LGBTQIA+ community and for all those who believe in a more just and inclusive society.".

“"May 17th commemorates the day, in 1990, when homosexuality was removed from the WHO's International Classification of Diseases. Today, this anniversary continues to remind us of our collective responsibility to fight discrimination, hatred, and violence," Avagliano continues.

“This year, the focus is on offensive graffiti, insults, and hate speech against LGBTQIA+ people. These are too often overlooked or ignored, but they're never just words: they have real, and sometimes invisible, consequences on people's lives. This is also why Arcigay is promoting the national campaign 'They're not just graffiti,' which reminds us that countering hatred is a collective responsibility that involves institutions, associations, and civil society.

Arcigay Salerno invites citizens, associations, and families to participate in the day to share a moment of inclusion, visibility, and community.
