“"Freedom cannot be corrected." Naples Pride 2026 celebrates thirty years of bodies, struggles, and social transformation.

It took place today in the Hall of the Barons of the Maschio Angioino, immediately after the awarding of the Honorary Citizenship for Franco Grillini, the press conference of the Naples Pride 2026, which takes place thirtieth anniversary of the 1996 Gay Pride, the first Pride in Southern Italy after Bologna and Rome.

Present at the conference were the Organizing Committee (Antinoo Arcigay Naples, Vesuvius Pride, ALFI the Tides, ATN – Transgender Association Naples And Campania Rainbow Coordination), The Municipality of Naples (co-organizer of the event since 2013) with the Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi and the Councilor for Sport and Equal Opportunities of the Municipality of Naples Emanuela Ferrante.

The artistic director Diego Di Flora presented the star show that will close the day in Piazza Dante, together with this year's godmothers: Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Big Mama, Leo Gassmann and the godmother solidified The Tarantina who turned 90 in recent months and represents the image of Neapolitan femminielli.

The appointment is for Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 3:00 PM in Piazza Giovanni Leone (Porta Capuana) where the protesters will gather. Departure scheduled for 4:00 PM. The procession will pass through Forcella, Rettifilo, and Via Toledo, arriving in Piazza Dante at 8:00 PM, where association and political speeches will be held. The Star Show will begin at 9:30 PM and continue until midnight.

This year the chosen slogan is radical and universal: “Freedom cannot be corrected” ('Freedom is not corrected). The theme unites two inseparable truths: a political response to the complexities of the present and a celebration of thirty years of bodies, struggles, and social transformations rooted in the city of Naples' culture of hospitality. Naples Pride 2026 is intended as a political seismograph against the authoritarian, repressive, and moralistic drift of the current government. The Committee forcefully denounces a security system that represses dissent, marginalizes differences, and suppresses freedoms, transforming them into limited concessions.

The fourth edition of the event started on June 18th. Pride Park at the Royal Hospice for the Poor which will continue until June 28th. The main event will be held Friday, June 26 with a meeting dedicated to the value of Pride in Europe and in the world with the activists of the Italian Pride of the South (Naples, Rome, Messina, Syracuse), with a look towards EuroPride Turin 2027 and with the extraordinary presence of the pride activists of Odessa and Beirut and, in connection, with the Stonewall Inn in New York.

“Naples confirms itself – declares Gaetano Manfredi, Mayor of Naples –, Naples, now more than ever, is a capital of rights, acceptance, and freedom. Naples Pride is not just a manifestation of joy and sharing, but a crucial political moment to reaffirm that our administration walks alongside those who fight every day for equality. Supporting Pride means supporting a vision of an open, plural, and profoundly democratic city, where no one should feel invisible or unprotected.”

“Napoli Pride 2026 is not just an event – adds Councilor Emanuela Ferrante –,  but a story that continues to transform our streets. On the thirtieth anniversary of the first Neapolitan Pride, we celebrate the courage of a community that has translated its voice into real change. Naples wants to continue to be a city that welcomes and protects. As an Administration, we assume the responsibility of defending rights as a common good, transforming our commitment into concrete actions against all discrimination. In this journey, the awarding of honorary citizenship to Franco Grillini takes on extraordinary symbolic value: the recognition of a history of struggle that is now part of the very identity of our city. Pride is a celebration, but above all it is visibility and political responsibility. On this thirtieth anniversary, we renew our pact: to ensure that the institutions' commitment does not end in a day, but is constant, to guarantee everyone the freedom to be themselves without fear. In Naples, freedom is not a privilege, it is the shared horizon we must build together.
