Florence, 24 June 2026 – After the publication of an institutional photo relating to the Tuscany Pride which was held in Grosseto, the municipal councilor of Montespertoli Alessia Gallerini has been the target of a series of homolesbobitransphobic comments On social media. Among the comments that appeared were extremely serious, denying the existence of discrimination, insulting LGBTQIA+ people, and even calling for exclusion and dehumanization.
“What happened confirms, unfortunately, that there is still a profound need for Pride, education and rights - declares the Board of Directors of Arcigay Florence Altre Sponde– Rights don't exist only on paper: they exist when they can be lived without fear, without insults, without having to justify one's presence and one's dignity every time.”
Gallerini, an elected city councilor and representative of her community, was present at the Pride parade in her public and institutional capacity. She is also a key figure in Arcigay Florence, which once again expressed its full solidarity and support, reiterating its pride in the work she carries out with commitment and determination.
The episode also highlights the urgent need to equip the country with adequate tools to combat hatred and discrimination. Italy still lacks a law against homophobia and transphobia, despite the persistent spread of language and behavior that directly affects LGBTQIA+ people.
The incident occurs in the Empolese Valdelsa area, where the company is active. Le Voci Fuori, an awareness-raising project on LGBTQIA+ issues and mapping discrimination. Incidents like this make this commitment even more necessary in our daily work with citizens and institutions.
