The novel (2026) published by Salani It's a journey through time in search of fragments of memory. After the death of their grandmother Florinda, Luca and his daughter Alba arrive in the Lucanian hills to the large family home, to tidy it up and plan its future. The rooms become treasure chests that preserve the past, each element bearing a trace of those who lived there. Florinda adopted Luca when he was already an adult—around the same time he adopted Alba. Two decisions driven by pure love, creating a surprising parallel. In the 1980s, after the Irpinia earthquake, Florinda took in Francesco, a child with mild cognitive impairment, and devoted all her energy, every dream, every heartbeat to him. In the silence of that house filled with memories, the protagonists piece together the thread of a shared destiny: that of people who chose each other, in the belief that family is not inherited, but built. With clear and profound writing, Trapanese tells his story as a father and son, reminding us that love doesn't need rules to be true and that authentic bonds live on even in absence,“ reads a statement from Salani publishing house.
