The fight against homophobia must involve everyone, and for this very reason, on what represents an unusual eve of the International Day Against Homophobia, May 16th at 11 a.m., Arcigay President Paolo Patanè will attend a meeting in Vlora, Albania, between Italian and Albanian LGBT associations and students from the "Ali Demi" high school.
This important event, made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Italian Consulate General in Albania and the President of Arcigay Pescara, Gianni Di Marco, is the first dedicated to anti-discrimination and homophobia issues ever held outside the country's capital, Tirana.
“"There is now an international movement of opinion that supports the demands of LGBT people and the fight against homophobia, with respect and equality," explains Arcigay president Paolo Patanè.
“"From this perspective," he continues, "the event organized in Albania honors the initiative of Albanian associations and the foresight of the Italian consul in Vlora. It confirms that in a time of economic crisis, we cannot ignore questions about justice and equality, and that homophobia is everyone's problem.".
For the occasion, Arcigay, in addition to meeting with the students, will meet with the Consul General of Italy, Sergio Strozzi, at the Consulate General of Italy in Vlora. Arcigay is scheduled to appear on Albanian national television later that day.
