Pride Wave, twelve marches in nine regions during the record-breaking Pride weekend. Piazzoni (Arcigay) dismantles Vannacci: "He's telling a dangerous lie."“
June 13, 2026 It's a record-breaking weekend for Onda Pride, the large LGBTQIA+ pride demonstration organized by Arcigay and other local and national associations. Between today and tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday, the Onda will pass through 12 Italian squares spread across nine regions. Ten events are scheduled today: Bari Pride will meet at 3:00 PM in Piazza Umberto I; Belluno Pride will gather at 4:00 PM in Piazzale della Stazione; Bologna Rivolta Pride will depart at 4:00 PM from Giardini Margherita; Cuneo Pride will meet at 3:30 PM in Corso Giolitti; Genova Liguria Pride will gather at 4:00 PM in Via San Benedetto; Grosseto Toscana Pride will meet at 4:30 PM in Piazza Esperanto; Lecco Pride will gather at 3:30 PM in Via Ghislanzoni; Pavia Pride departs at 3:30 PM from Piazzale Ghinaglia; Perugia Umbria Pride meets at 4 PM at the Etruscan Arch; and Vicenza Pride meets at 4 PM at Fornaci Park. Tomorrow, Sunday, June 14th, there are two more events: Irpinia Pride parades in Atripalda, departing at 4:30 PM from Piazza Umberto I, while Dolo Pride departs at 5 PM from the sports facilities.
“"On this weekend of overwhelming pride," says Gabriele Piazzoni, general secretary of Arcigay, "we have to explain the obvious to a far-right party leader who is telling a dangerous lie. Vannacci says that gays have all the rights in Italy. This is false. Vannacci deliberately ignores the law: civil unions are not marriage. Minors in rainbow families do not have the same rights as other families. Access to assisted reproduction for same-sex couples is prohibited. There is no national law against homolesbobitransphobia. LGBTQIA+ people are insulted, threatened, excluded, beaten, killed. And the Rainbow Map 2026 ranks us 36th out of 49 European countries, close to Orbán's Hungary. Vannacci's lie is for political gain: it's not a slip of the tongue, it's a strategy. Reducing sexual orientation to a "taste" serves to undermine the legitimacy of the LGBTQIA+ movement. civil rights itself. But the Constitution isn't about taste: it's about people, dignity, equality. Our response will be resounding and will be demonstrated in the streets today and tomorrow,“ Piazzoni concludes.
