July 25, 2026 – Onda Pride, the large-scale national demonstration in support of LGBTQIA+ rights organized by Arcigay and other local and national associations, continues with two events today across Molise and Emilia-Romagna. The Campobasso Molise Pride meets at 5:00 p.m. in Piazza Cuoco, near the train station, while the Rimini Summer Pride departs at 5:00 p.m. from Piazzale Kennedy.
“"Today we are in Campobasso and Rimini, two Italian squares that are filled with pride," says Gabriele Piazzoni, general secretary of Arcigay. "But our thoughts are with Bologna, where the death of Abderrahim Fakir demands full light on the possible responsibilities and role of institutional racism. We join the chorus of all those who have spoken out in recent days to demand truth, responsibility, and justice. No shortcuts. When a person dies during a law enforcement intervention, the State has only one duty: to fully ascertain the truth. And this truth must question us about the security model we are building, how we continue to treat mental distress and altered states as a public order issue rather than a health issue. When institutional racism and a repressive management of vulnerability are added to this, the risk of an intervention turning into a tragedy increases. From our streets, we also want to stigmatize the right-wing figures who in recent days, in an attempt to dodge these imperative demands, are trying to shift the blame. "We must not place responsibility on local authorities or even on the protests following the death of a man in the hands of law enforcement. This is a manipulative attempt that we must all denounce and reject," concludes Piazzoni.
