Onda Pride, today marks the 57th march of a record-breaking season for Potenza Basilicata Pride. Piazzoni (Arcigay): "Seventy Pride marches across the country, the longest and most intense demonstration ever."«

August 22, 2026 – Onda Pride 2026, the major national demonstration in support of LGBTQIA+ rights organized by Arcigay and other local and national associations, continues with a celebration today that will brighten the Basilicata capital. The Potenza Basilicata Pride rally will gather at 4:00 PM at Torre Guevara, from where the parade will wind through the streets of the city center.

«"Today we are in Potenza," says Gabriele Piazzoni, general secretary of Arcigay, "for the 57th parade of this Onda Pride season, which promises to be the longest and most intense ever: after Agrigento on August 29th, ten more parades await us in September and two in October. A total of 70 Pride events across the country. Seventy parades crisscrossing Italy from north to south, from large cities to small villages. From the historic Sanremo event, where it all began in 1972, to the Paesello Pride between Cammarata and San Giovanni Gemini, to the large parades in Rome, Milan, Turin, Bologna, Palermo, up until today, in Potenza. Seventy Pride events that tell the story of a movement that never stops, that never retreats. That in an Italy that seems to want to backtrack on rights—with a government that says no to equal marriage, no to the recognition of the children of rainbow couples, no to emotional and sexual education in schools, and that at the UN rejects 73% of the recommendations on LGBTQIA+ rights—she continues to fill the streets, to demand justice, to resist", concludes Piazzoni.
