There International Transgender Day of Visibility<\/strong> It is an event dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of the discrimination they face around the world. The day was founded by American transgender activist Rachel Crandall of Michigan in 2009 as a response to the lack of holidays that recognized and celebrated living members of the transgender community.<\/p>\n

The first International Transgender Day of Visibility was held on March 31, 2009. Since then, it has been spearheaded by the U.S.-based youth advocacy organization, Trans Student Educational Resources.<\/p>\n

In 2015, many transgender people participated in an online social media campaign on websites including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram. Participants posted selfies, personal stories, statistics related to transgender issues, and other related content to raise awareness and visibility.<\/p>\n

Arcigay has decided to be there again this year with a campaign that answers the question: What does visibility mean to you?
\nIt is therefore with pride, courage and determination that many people (members of Arcigay and not) have photographed themselves and answered the question, giving a multiple meaning to the Day starting from #ioesisto.<\/p>\n
