Arcigay, vicinanza con il Pride di Belgrado

Bologna, 30 August 2011

Dear friends,

As Italy’s foremost LGBT rights organisation, Arcigay is committed to fight against homophobia, transphobia, heterosexism, prejudice and anti-LGBT discrimination, to achieving equal status and equal
opportunities among all individuals regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, and to reinforce a full, free and joyful life for LGBT people.

Arcigay, together with the international LGBT community, regularly raises concerns about human rights in east European countries and it strongly believes that national and local authorities have to respect and protect the rights of freedom of assembly and freedom of association and that anyone exercising these rights can do so in a safe environment.

Hereby we want to express our strong support for the upcoming Pride Parade in Belgrade. An important event with the potential of promoting tolerance and values of diversity, introducing queer culture to the city, and attracting society’s attention to the problems of homophobia, transphobia and other forms of discrimination.

The Italian LGBT community is with you and wish you a very successful event.

Solidarity,

Stefano Bucaioni
