Today, Wednesday, May 22, 2002, the Aosta Valley Regional Council approved the new Regulations governing the granting of subsidized mortgages in the residential construction sector. The new legislation first establishes who is eligible and, in accordance with Article 1 of the regional law on families approved in the spring of 1998, takes the family registry as the reference.
The Aosta Valley Region has once again honored its libertarian calling and respect for all differences. The gay community thanks the Regional Government and Council for this act, the first of its kind approved in Italy.
Policies to support and promote the family, whether traditional or otherwise, are effective if they do not restrict freedoms and promote tools that meet today's needs, uninfluenced by ideological beliefs that only serve to erect barriers and lead to hateful discrimination.
The modern vision of Aosta Valley society that regional administrators have proposed is in line with family-support policies that have achieved excellent results in the most advanced European countries.
