[:en]2018 Elections: Heated and Participated Debate[:]

[:en]On Saturday, February 24, a debate organized by Arcigay Livorno took place at the auditorium of the 1st district at Via Gobetti 11. Representatives of Potere al Popolo, Liberi e Uguali, Partito Democratico, and Movimento 5 Stelle were present; the Lega Nord and the Communist Party were absent. Moderating was Cristiana Grasso, a journalist from "IL TIRRENO – Livorno." Various topics were discussed: Work, Rights, Education, and Migration. The room was full for the meeting, which included not only political representatives but also the public. In fact, throughout the debate, a "calm" tone was maintained, except on a few topics such as the "good school system," the Jobs Act, and the Cirinnà law, where there were moments of very heated discussion. The meeting concluded with a letter of commitment submitted to the candidates, outlining five proposals that Arcigay Livorno had presented to them; you can read: "if I am elected I will commit to promoting the following issues: equal marriage, adoptions for singles and same-sex couples, a law against homotransphobia, access to heterologous fertilization for all women, depathologization of trans identity. The evening concludes with a speech by the President of Arcigay Livorno, Luca Mazzinghi: "I would like to thank in particular the members of our association who have worked hard to create a moment of citizen discussion which is the basis of the democratic life of all of us, where in a completely neutral way we were able to understand the various positions of the parties present. I also invite everyone to go and vote on March 4th and not to abstain, because voting is our way of changing the country!".[:]
