Once Upon a Time Hermes, l’Arte e il Sociale

Once Upon a Time Hermes, Art and Society

On winged boots, Hermes Academy celebrated its 13th anniversary in France and Italy

Saturday, September 15th, thirteen years have been celebrated since the foundation of the Hermes Academy Onlus, one of the most operative associations of the Ionian province: a workshop in France and two events in Taranto have inaugurated the fourteenth artistic season.

At Homade, artistic residence in the French village of Brivezac (Corrèze, New Aquitania), president Luigi Pignatelli, starting at 9.30, conducted the workshop “Once Upon a Body”: Impro Theater, Body Theater, Silent Theater, Image Theater , Clownerie and Story Telling, as part of the international “DigiTale” project, co-funded by the Erasmus + program, which brings together young workers, trainers, presidents of LGBTIQ+ associations and young leaders from various European Countries (Belarus, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Russia, USA). Ilaria Fresa took care of the graphic facilitation.

The traditional blowing of the candles occurred in the late afternoon, at the rainbow feast of “The Village of Differences” in Piazza Maria Immacolata (formerly Piazza Giordano Bruno) in Taranto, animated by the Youth Group (coordinated by the genderfluid activist Anies Maggio) and the Group Over65 (led by Emanuele Pignatelli) of Arcigay Strambopoli – QueerTown Taranto (sister association born in March 2017, which from the major inherited the role of garrison of the best known Italian LGBTI association), as part of the socio-health campaign (morally sponsored by Provincial Office of the Councilor of Equality, Municipalities of Taranto, Avetrana, Carosino, Faggiano, Ginosa, Grottaglie, Laterza, Leporano, San Giorgio Jonico) prevention and contrast to phenomena of homo-bi-transphobia, gender violence, xenophobia, cyber bullying, IST (sexually transmitted infections), stigma HIV+ people and, more generally, stigma IST+ people.

On the day of his birthday, the Hermes Academy (which was the Territorial Committee Arcigay Taranto until 2017) has chosen to live in the central square where stands every Saturday: from 18.30 to 21.00, the pedestrian area has been dyed colors of the rainbow, with different moments of intergenerational aggregation, with representatives of associations and movements that have shared projects and paths with the non-profit organization since September 2005.

At 9.30 pm, the People’s Library “Il Salotto delle Muse”, in Via Pupino # 90, hosted the screening of the short movie “The Bycicle”, written by Luigi Pignatelli, with illustrations by Ål Nik, artwork by Ilaria Fresa and footage by Kasia Kowalska.

Participation in all activities was free.
