The professor: "I am shocked and saddened by this form of incivility."«

PAVIA. First the homophobic graffiti on the desk, then the repeated anonymous phone calls. The glances, the whispers, the gossip. And finally, the insults escalated, shouted at two gay students outside the school. They didn't discuss it directly with their teachers, so as not to expose it. However, they contacted Arcigay, which will in turn request a meeting with the school. "They can come and talk to me about it," says the principal of the classical high school, Lorenzo Fergonzi.
«"What the kids said amazes and saddens me," says Walter Minella, a history and philosophy teacher at the classical high school. "It's a form of incivility that astonishes me. There's a certain level of stupidity that manifests itself in many ways. I hoped that this percentage would be reduced, if not eliminated, by having a cultural background." Kids may think a joke can just be a joke, but it often hurts. "Speaking of philosophy, for example, we know that Plato was homosexual; these are obvious things that should be part of our cultural heritage." But this isn't enough; these lessons seem distant. This is also why Arcigay is calling for the schools project, funded by the ministry, to be extended to the classical high school and all other secondary schools in Pavia. "Arcigay's projects are welcome," emphasizes the history and philosophy teacher.
