VIAREGGIO. The "Marenostrum" journalism and literary prize dedicated to migrant culture will be awarded today.
At 4:30 pm at the Esplanade Hotel, the journalist and writer who have devoted most to migrant issues in our country will be awarded.
The award is intended to commemorate the work of many reporters and writers, as well as associations and institutions, who dedicate all or most of their time to addressing the difficulties faced by migrants arriving in Italy, helping them coexist with our culture, religion, and ideas.
The "Marenostrum" award, now in its sixth year, aims to recognize those who have dedicated their lives to others, to those who are different, seeking to understand them and sharing their emotions and fears with us. The awards will therefore be presented to the best journalist and the best writer (for this reason, the competition is called "journalistic-literary").
The special guest at the awards ceremony will be Andrea Camilleri, who will provide a video contribution, along with Giovanni Maiolo for Rete Re.Co.Sol, the president of the Puntocritico Association, Andrea Genovali, and the president of the “Marenostrum” award, Gino Barsella.
Laura Boldrini, spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, will also be present. She was awarded the "Solidarity" prize for her dedication and commitment to communities in the Global South.
Furthermore, the "Tom Benetollo" award will be presented to Paolo Patanè, national president of Arcigay, in memory of David Kato, who was assassinated on January 21, likely for his inconvenient activism in the protection of gay rights.
