The Case of Ebrahim Hamidi) by Rocco Bernini and Alessandro Golinelli (Italy 2011). This courageous and powerful documentary exposes, through images and interviews, the harsh living conditions of gay men, lesbians, and women in Iran, where torture, show trials, and death sentences by hanging or stoning are commonplace, even for minors. Beginning with the shocking case of a twenty-one-year-old sentenced to death, the documentary explores the social and political context of these atrocities, the painful clandestine existence of gay men, their silent struggle for liberation, and that of young Iranians and women.
