[:it]ONDA PRIDE, THE GRAND FINALE TOMORROW WITH THE MARSHALS IN NOVARA AND SORRENTO. ARCIGAY: “IN THE SUMMER OF HATE, OUR RESISTANCE HAS FILLED THE STREETS WITH OVER A MILLION PEOPLE”* Bologna, September 13, 2019 – Tomorrow's marches in Sorrento and Novara mark the end of the Onda Pride season, the large-scale pride demonstration organized by Arcigay and other LGBTI associations. Sorrento Pride has scheduled its gathering at 3:30 PM in Piazza Lauro, from where it will depart around 5 PM and arrive in Piazza Andrea Veniero. Novara Pride, on the other hand, will meet at 2:30 PM at the bus station, from where the procession will move around 3:30 PM and conclude its route in Piazza Martiri. "During a summer when hatred and intolerance reached unimaginable heights in our country," commented Gabriele Piazzoni, Secretary General of Arcigay, "the LGBTI movement stubbornly filled the streets, showing the best side of our society. The Pride Wave, which began in Vercelli in May, consisted of 41 demonstrations, a record number never before seen in Italy. More than a million people marched in the streets to represent the demand for rights, equality, and solidarity. Because despite the relentless campaign by Salvini and his associates, our fight is not retreating; rather, it is broadening its horizons and alliances. Fifty years ago, the Stonewall riots in New York, which Arcigay celebrated by participating in the extraordinary World Pride march, sparked a revolution that has led, in many parts of the world, to the redemption of LGBTI people, their victory in society, their sense of being on the right side of history. Tomorrow, in Sorrento and Novara, we will close out an unforgettable season, which we hand over to the newly formed government as a clear and tangible request to address the issues of our world, still on the fringes of the political agenda. So we repeat: to redeem ourselves from the hatred of recent months, we want a law that explicitly opposes that hatred, without compromise. Only then can we truly say we are on the path to a new humanism,“ concludes Piazzoni. Info on: www.ondapride.it.[:en]*ONDA PRIDE, THE GRAND FINALE TOMORROW WITH THE MARSHALS IN NOVARA AND SORRENTO.
