Italian lesbians demonstrate in support of the international initiative of the Lesbian Community* of Europe and Central Asia (EL*C) “#lesbiansaremotherstoo”.
Italian lesbian organizations have joined together in solidarity to support Italian lesbian mothers affected by the hateful and harmful, violent policies of the far-right Italian government that violate the fundamental rights of lesbian families in Italy.

Arcigay Modena “Matthew Shepard” & Lesbiche Bologna – in collaboration with Differenza Lesbica Roma and Arcigay Roma – organized a demonstration to protest the removal of non-pregnant mothers from their children's birth certificates.
On Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., the protest that was due to take place at Viale delle Belle Arti 2 in front of the Embassy of the Italian Republic to the Holy See, which was not granted access for security reasons, will now take place in Largo Giovanni XXIII, Rome.
Italian lesbians will demonstrate—as they have already done and will do in the coming days in other European cities: Paris, Brussels, Lisbon, Marseille, Alicante, Porto, Lyon, Nice, London, Berlin, and Dublin—to condemn the government's actions undermining the parental rights of Italian mothers, who are still considered "non-compliant" with social and state norms. #lesbiansaremotherstoo will also be held in the Vatican, where sexual minorities have never been treated with respect.
Join the sit-in to echo the resistant voice of Italian lesbian mothers and same-sex parents who will no longer be legally recognized as such.
