ALIAS CARRIERE, ARCIGAY SOLIDARITY WITH THE AICS PRESIDENT: "ATTACKS THAT SPREAD HATE"’
Bologna, January 15, 2024 – "Grassroots sport is about inclusion, education, and the valorization of differences. It is the tool we need to use to break down discrimination, and AICS does this every day by working on concrete projects like the new Alias membership program for people new to grassroots sport." This was stated by Marco Arlati, Sports Delegate in the national secretariat of Arcigay, expressing his full solidarity with Bruno Molea, President of AICS, following the attacks he received from ProVita. "Hatred, homophobia, and transphobia," Arlati continues, "must not be part of sport and the culture of the sporting world. The only thing that's clear about ProVita's statement is their complete ignorance of sports, confusing, first and foremost, grassroots sport with Olympic sport. The AICS regulation on alias careers is clear: the Alias identity grants automatic access to non-competitive sporting activities in AiCS, while for amateur competitions organized by the organization, an analysis of individual sports is underway, in line with the Olympic Committee's recommendations, namely the production of concrete evidence. This doesn't discriminate against female athletes; rather, it allows those who have begun the transition phase but who still lack the corrected documents, which are essential for sports membership, to participate in grassroots sports. Although amateurs in sport, ProVita are professionals at spreading misinformation and hate towards those who want to participate in grassroots sports," Arlati concludes.
