PRIDE WAVE, PROCESSION TODAY IN LIGNANO SABBIADORO. PIAZZONI (ARCIGAY): "OUR MILITANT SEASON HAS LASTED FOREVER."“
Bologna, August 31, 2024 Another event today in the long lineup of Onda Pride, the large-scale demonstration in support of LGBTQ+ rights organized by Arcigay and other local and national associations. The Friuli Venezia Giulia Pride parade will take place in Lignano Sabbiadoro, starting this morning at 10:00 a.m. with the opening of the Pride Village at Parco del Mare, complete with gazebos, stalls, and a food court. At 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, the same park will also host:, the gathering for the procession which will move through the city streets starting at 4.30 pm.
“We are moving towards the final stage of this mobilization, which started in April and will end in October in Aosta”: he declares Gabriele Piazzoni, general secretary of Arcigay. He continues: "In recent months, we have encountered the violence, injustice, and discrimination that affects LGBTQ+ people from north to south in our country, a scourge we fight against every day. But we have also encountered the energy and pride of thousands upon thousands of gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans*, queer people, and all the other people who support the idea of a more just and freer country. And if we welcome Democratic Party Secretary Elly Schlein's invitation to an autumn of militant action, we bring that invitation back to the images of recent months, but also to our history and our practices, relaunching: because our militant season has always lasted, because the demand for full equality has always been unanswered in Italy," concludes Piazzoni.
