Bologna, September 14, 2024 – Biella Pride is coming up today, a new stop on the Onda Pride, the large-scale demonstration in support of LGBTQ+ rights organized by Arcigay and other local and national associations. The rally is scheduled for 3:45 PM at the Pala Pajetta parking lot, between Via Pajetta and Corso Risorgimento. "We're coming to this event with a sense of shock at the new rabbit that the majority supporting the Meloni government has pulled out of its hat," said Arcigay. Gabriele Piazzoni, general secretary of Arcigay. He continues: "While the country struggles with stagnant wages, stalled transportation, extreme weather events, widespread poverty, the threat of war, and an unpresentable political class, the right is waving the spectre of gender in Parliament, trying to convince people that the danger looming isn't all that, but rather the possibility of someone making a phantom gender ideology dominant. If it weren't for the fact that behind this narrative lies a dangerous attack on our freedoms, we would almost laugh at this farce. But laughter freezes when we realize that with these premises, in other countries like Russia, the way has been paved for a full-blown persecution of homosexual and transgender people. In short: it's a farce, but unfortunately it's a very dangerous farce to which we must all pay the utmost attention," concludes Piazzoni.
