On the occasion of the birth of the Arcigay Library Viterbo, the association proposes a public meeting within the framework of the Viterbo Volunteer Festival 2025, dedicated to poetry as a form of gift: not only in a literary sense, but also in an existential, relational, and political one.
A meeting dedicated to poetry as a gift: not only in the literary sense, but also in the existential, relational, and political. Poetic language becomes an act of generosity and a form of resistance against oblivion and marginalization, capable of preserving identities, experiences, and stories. From this perspective, LGBT+ literature is not just an archive of memory, but a living space for shared expression, where individual experiences are transformed into collective heritage.
Maurizio Gregorini, poet, journalist and editor, will lead – in dialogue with Lorenzo Abbate – a reflection on the profound meaning of poetry, its evocative power, and the role it can play as a mirror of community experiences. Through readings and conversations, we will explore the voices of authors who have turned writing into an act of resistance and generosity, offering words capable of transforming our perspective on ourselves and others.
The initiative will also be the occasion to officially present the project of the Arcigay Library Viterbo, made with the support of Lazio North Bank and enriched by the generous donation of over two hundred volumes by Gregorini himself: a new space for meeting and memory, created to preserve and share LGBT+ cultural heritage through books, readings, and community initiatives.
The meeting will conclude with poetry readings by the association's members, who will share selected or written texts as a gesture of giving and testimony.
To ensure full accessibility, the event will be accompanied by LIS interpreting service, made possible thanks to the support of the Municipality of Viterbo as part of the Festival.
