Torre Annunziata (Naples), October 13, 2025 – Yet another serious episode of homophobia and violence occurred today, 13 October 2025, at the EAV train station in Torre Annunziata, where Francesco Caraviello, a very young activist of Antinoo Arcigay Napoli and president of the Discovery Queer association, was the victim of a brutal verbal attack that culminated in very serious threats of stabbing.
The incident occurred in the afternoon, when Caraviello was near the station. Two young men who had just gotten off a train began hurling a series of homophobic insults at him, including the usual phrases like "faggot," "f***," "you'll take it in the ass," and then the chilling threat: «f*** you take it in the ass I'll stab you in the face».
The incident, Francesco tells us, isn't an isolated one, but the taunts and insults had been going on for days. Today, however, Francesco found the strength and courage to react.
Antinoo Arcigay Naples immediately expressed full solidarity and will support Francesco, who is well but affected by the incident, in reporting the incident to the public security authorities.
Antonello Sannino, President of Antinoo Arcigay Naples, declares: “Once again, tragedy has been narrowly avoided. The phrase "we'll stab you in the face" wasn't a prank, but a very serious threat that could have turned tragic. Together with Francesco, we will report the incident to local authorities. We urgently call for greater intervention in what is increasingly a security emergency for LGBTQIA+ people. Institutions must act immediately to ensure the safety and respect of all citizens, especially those segments of the population most exposed to growing homophobic and transphobic hatred, fueled by hate speech from a segment of the national and local political class.“.
