On Tuesday 3 December, the European Parliament will vote on the 2001 Human Rights Report. Some centre-right MEPs have expressed their support for removing the section of the document relating to the rights of homosexual persons.
In this regard, we publish the statement by Ottavio Marzocchi, Transnational Radical Party.

"Tomorrow, the European Parliament will vote on the 2001 EU Human Rights Report in the Committee on Citizens' Freedoms and Rights. One of the most controversial sections of the report is the section on gay rights, which calls on the EU and its member states to combat discrimination, recognize non-marital relationships (both between people of different sexes and between people of the same sex), introduce same-sex marriage, and ensure mutual recognition of gay couples at the European level. Italian center-right MEPs Santini and Fiori (FI), Borghezio (Lega), and Angelilli (AN) have tabled amendments to remove any reference to the homosexual issue: in short, for them, the homosexual issue is—much like in Europe in the past, or as it is today in other parts of the world—simply to be…suppressed.‘
