As national representatives of Arcigay, we are deeply shocked by the news that Don Barbero has been reduced to the lay state by the Vatican Curia.
His welcoming and attentive stance on the homosexual issue, along with other positions he took on the necessary renewal of the Church, have not been forgiven by a homophobic and obscurantist mob. On behalf of the millions of gay believers and the entire Italian gay community, we express to Don Franco Barbero our solidarity and support for his mission, which is in no way affected by this medieval and unjust Roman measure.
