Dragonfly | Ischia During one of the many inspections conducted by conservation officers from the LIPU environmental association, they happened upon a "peculiar" gathering place right in the center of the capital city. A specific report from a resident informed the guards that inside the pine forest on Via Sogliuzzo, housed in a dedicated enclosure, one of the ducks present was showing clear signs of distress and was being continuously attacked, even violently, by other ducks in the cage, causing visible injuries and putting the bird at risk of death.
The guards promptly went into the city park to assess the situation they had reported. The officers looked for the caretaker to inquire about the report, but alas, they found no one. Instead, they found a citizen peacefully reading on a bench. Noticing the officers' presence, he informed them that he was a frequent visitor to the pine forest and stated that it was very difficult to find the caretaker because he was almost never there.
Identifying himself as a former traffic policeman for the municipality of Ischia, he reiterated that there are various problems within the pine forest, but the most serious and annoying was the constant coming and going of gay men and voyeurs who gather at a certain spot at all hours, often harassing young people and foreigners with constant advances. He himself had repeatedly been the target of attention from these shady individuals.
At the guards' request, the citizen himself accompanied the officers to the meeting place, and unfortunately, the scene of degradation and squalor presented before them was certainly not pleasant to behold. A small path, never used even by the park's caretakers, the helpful citizen always maintained, leads into a strip of woods that runs alongside the main road and leads into a gloomy tunnel beneath the road itself, connecting to another pine forest opposite. This patch of greenery was clearly abandoned, with dirty tissues (including blood), condoms, and pornographic magazines scattered everywhere.
Three wooden sticks were stuck into the ground, their tops clearly visible, topped with three condoms. An indecent and uncivilized sight, certainly, which shows the depravity of the locals, but a real danger for the many children who play nearby and perhaps unknowingly accept candy from strangers. Let's hope these sweets never taste bitter, and never cause tears to fall from the many honest parents who wander through the pine forest with their little ones. For their part, the LIPU environmental guards have drawn up a detailed report and informed the Carabinieri of the Ischia station, as well as the local police and the local health unit.
