The Italy I would like
I'd definitely like it to be pinker. Therefore, emancipated. I'd like it to be more secular. Therefore, free. Less conniving. Therefore, more pacifist. More Mediterranean. Therefore, relaxed. More captivated and less corrupt. With less football and more rugby. I'd like it to be different from how it is, and above all, I wouldn't want it to encourage me to want to live in a country other than this one. However, I'm not willing to leave without having really given it my all to finally make things change. I've used my oxygen reserve, but unfortunately it's not unlimited. Good luck!
(incipit freely adapted from an interview with Morrissey in Rolling Stones in June).
The Arcigay I would like
I'd like it with a horde of more activists, members, friends, and supporters because it would be stronger and more effective. And maybe even a little more unscrupulous... bold... intrepid. Capable of daring acts of civil disobedience à la Greenpeace or sensational à la "Fathers 4 Justice"... I can just imagine myself unfurling a giant rainbow tens of meters long from an opening in Michelangelo's Dome in St. Peter's!!! And there below, hundreds of jubilant monster hands... What a movie... Right now, I'd be willing to risk arrest, our lawyers will get me out right away... right?
The companion I would like
At the risk of sounding obvious, rhetorical, and even presumptuous, I want to say it: I couldn't ask for a better woman to be by my side than my partner. And in the month of our fifth anniversary, I absolutely don't want to miss the opportunity to give her a special gift, a public declaration of love... a blatant I LOVE YOU and a sincere THANK YOU.
