No repair

Arcigay Pisa, in collaboration with the university associations Sinistra Per… and Glauco is organizing a two-day awareness event on the pseudoscience of "reparative theories," according to which it is possible to "correct" homosexual orientation and transform gays and lesbians into ex-gays and ex-lesbians.

The initiatives begin with the screening of Suddenly last winter, a feature film about DICO, the Prodi government's controversial and divisive bill that would have introduced legislation on homosexual cohabitation in Italy through the recognition of certain rights and duties.

The film tells the story of how Luca and Gustav (the two directors) experienced the political debate in the country and in parliament until the bill was shelved.
The screening, in collaboration with Cineclub Arsenale, will take place starting at 8:30 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the end there will be a debate with the two young directors, Luca Ragazzi and Gustav Hofer.

The initiative's calendar continues on April 24, 2009 at 5:00 PM, at Room 6 of the Sapienza Palace, Via Curtatone e Montanara 15 Pisa, with the conference ""Pseudoscience and Reparative Therapies"" in which they will intervene Prof. Vittorio Lingiardi, Professor of General Psychopathology at the University “La Sapienza” of Rome, Prof. Alessandro Taurino Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Bari and the’Hon. Paola Concia. The conference, in connection with the latest news events, will aim to investigate the origin, nature and factors, including political ones, that have determined the national diffusion of these therapies, highlighting their substantial unscientific nature and the psychological damage they can cause in the patients who undergo them.

In the evening of Friday, April 24, it's done party! Starting from 9:00 PM at the Veterinary Clinic on Via delle Piagge:
Aperitif and screening of the film Mamma Mia!
From 11.00 pm it continues with a DJ set, entertainment and a bar.
