On the occasion of the May 17, 2009, 5th International Day Against Homophobia, Arcigay organizes the PEGASO D'ORO gala, an event featuring Simona Ventura and Vladimir Luxuria, to reward the showbiz personalities who, over the course of the season, have stood out most in promoting the public visibility of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) people, overcoming stereotypes and thus communicating a freer and more inclusive society.
“Homophobia creeps into every social context and our city is also affected by it” – he declares Paul Ferigo, president of Arcigay Milano – “Sometimes even people who hold institutional roles are responsible for episodes that are based on fear and prevent the free socialization of homosexual people, as happened just last night in a gay-friendly bar in Milan.”
“Arcigay Milano believes that moments of inclusive sociality for everyone should be multiplied and for this reason We also invite the city's Police Commissioner to this gala evening, as an opportunity for discussion and mutual enrichment..”
“"We want to celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia with a festive event, a socializing opportunity that enhances the affirmation of all identities" – adds the national president of Arcigay Aurelio Mancuso - "And We like to do it with Simona and Vladimir who have communicated to the large television audience our joy of living and our dignity.”
The evening will begin Sunday, May 17th at 9 pm at Karma Privé, at Borgo del Tempo Perso, in via Fabio Massimo 36, and includes a dinner, a performance by the Drag Show Strass and the presentation of the Golden Pegasus to Simona Ventura and the award for LGBT personality of the year to Vladimir Luxuria.
