Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the National Central Library of Rome (Viale Castro Pretorio 105), the II School of Specialization in Clinical Psychology and Faculty of Psychology 1 (Sapienza University of Rome) presents the international conference ‘'Homosexuality and Psychotherapies'’.
The conference, promoted by II School of Specialization in Clinical Psychology (Director Prof. Vittorio Lingiardi) of the Faculty of Psychology 1 of Sapienza University of Rome, received the patronage and collaboration of the Order of Psychologists of Lazio and the Italian Association of Psychology (AIP), and the patronage of the Faculty of Psychology 1 of Sapienza University of Rome, the National Order of Psychologists, the Province of Rome and the Lazio Region.
The aim of the initiative is to promote information and initiate debate among mental health professionals around the following topics:
– clinical and social implications of so-called "reparative therapies"“, that is, those psychological and behavioral “therapies” that aim, often at the request of the patient himself, to “modify” sexual orientation;
– social homophobia, internalized homophobia, minority stress;
– relationship between homosexual person, psychological well-being and religious values;
– characteristics of psychological listening’“confused” teenager” with respect to one's orientation.
