On the occasion of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, which is celebrated today, Licata's Deputy Mayor, Giuseppe Arnone, emphasized that the Municipality of Licata has also expressed its support.

“"In this regard," says Giuseppe Arnone, Deputy Mayor of Licata, "I would like to point out that on April 5th, the City Council joined the READY network (National Network of Public Administrations Against Discrimination Based on Sexual Orientation and Identity in General), following a specific request made to the City Administration by Agostino De Caro, President of Arcigay Agrigento. The aim is to develop a citizen awareness campaign on this issue, with the aim of preventing potential attacks against LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) people and combating all forms of sexual violence and discrimination. This is also in light of the specific provisions of Article 3 of the Constitution of the Italian Republic, which stipulates that all citizens have equal social dignity and are equal before the law, without distinction of sex, race, language, religion, political opinion, personal and social conditions, and Article 2 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.".

The Administration has sponsored the display of posters commemorating the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia and has pledged to evaluate support for any other initiatives currently being planned or planned in the near future.

The City Council has authorized the mayor to promote the establishment of an observatory, in conjunction with the prefecture, other municipalities, associations, and the business community, to analyze discrimination and violence against LGBT people, raise awareness among public administrations and the general public, and promote positive action against homophobia, intolerance, and discrimination.
