Udine. "Homophobic banners under the Loggia are a false attack."«

UDINE – "On the very day the Chamber of Deputies' Justice Committee rejected the Concia bill against homophobia and transphobia, we received news of the appearance last night of banners featuring homophobic phrases displayed under the Loggia del Lionello in Udine, a symbolic location of the city administration that sponsored our campaign featuring posters featuring the "made in Friuli" gay kiss, part of the national campaign against homophobia." This was stated yesterday by Giacomo Deperu, vice president of Arcigay Udine and Pordenone. "From what we have learned," Deperu stated, "the banners, which were promptly removed, appear to have called the 'homosexual family' a 'national shame.'" This was likely an attempt by a far-right movement to denigrate our campaign, placing itself outside of the Friulian and Italian culture, which this year welcomed the new posters with equanimity." According to Deperu, this is an entirely instrumental attempt "to whip up a controversy that no one feels the need for. We expect politicians as a whole to take responsibility for demonstrating that these homophobic and shameful attitudes are the expression of a tiny minority that has no place in the debate of our civil society.".
