PAVIA IS SPREADING THE PROBLEM OF HOMOPHORACIOUS SCRIPTS ON CITY WALLS. The number of graffiti with offensive content against homosexuals is becoming so high that Arcigay Pavia founding member Giuseppe Polizzi and activist Luca Contardi have decided to ask the city administration to intervene to clean up the walls. "It's very common to come across one or more graffiti even casually while walking through some of the city center streets," the two Arcigay representatives wrote in a statement. "This happens on Via della Rocchetta, Via Rusconi, Via Capsoni, Via Defendente Sacchi, and Via Mentana. But there's no shortage of insulting graffiti around the San Tommaso university building, as well as the Casorati middle school. It's common to read insults like "faggot" and "queer" on the walls, accompanied by various phrases that mock specific sexual habits." Tired of reading these graffiti, the two young men decided to formally ask Palazzo Mezzabarba for "a campaign to remove the murals, to combat the homophobic hatred that is spreading in all its forms and impoverishing a community committed to protecting minorities and diversity.".
