Gay boys beaten in a nightclub

Last night, at a well-known nightclub in the province of Varese, seven young people were reportedly the victims of a homophobic attack by the club's security.
The complaint comes from Arcigay. Among the victims of the attack is Marco Coppola, provincial president of Arcigay Verbania and a member of the association's national secretariat.

“The boys – according to what Arcigay reports – were dancing on a cube with each other when, 'identified' as homosexuals, they were forced to get off, insulted, brutally beaten and finally removed from the club.
At the boys' request, the Carabinieri intervened and they were given immediate treatment at the local hospital's emergency room.".

“"This episode," denounces Paolo Patane', national president of Arcigay, "truly marks an unbearable low. It is tragically symbolic that one of Arcigay's top national leaders was the victim of this despicable homophobic attack. My solidarity with Marco Coppola and the other young men, filled with anger at the unjustifiable brutality and hatred they endured, and for a battle that always crashes against a wall of scandalous ideological silence.".

Paola Concia: Stop homophobic violence, the government must intervene.
“"While yet another unacceptable act of homophobia has taken place against seven young people guilty of simply having fun in a nightclub, combating homophobic and transphobic violence appears to have no place on the Monti government's agenda," said Anna Paola Concia, a member of the Democratic Party, in a statement. "Furthermore, following the urgent request from Arcigay President Paolo Patanè," she continued, "tomorrow morning I will present a parliamentary question to Ministers Fornero and Cancellieri to ask them what actions they intend to take to combat the emergency of homophobic and transphobic violence in our country and how they plan to proceed to ensure the rapid approval of legislation against homophobia and transphobia."”
