Two years ago, the Constitutional Court, with ruling 138 of April 14, 2010, affirmed for the first time the constitutional dignity of same-sex couples, recognizing that any choice, behavior, or statement that impedes the possibility of being recognized with the same rights as heterosexual couples violates a fundamental right waiting to be fully realized.
Two years later, the Court of Cassation, with ruling 4184 of 2012, recognized the right of same-sex couples to family life and "to receive treatment consistent with that guaranteed by law to married couples.".
Il 13 febbraio 2012, il tribunale di Reggio Emilia ha riconosciuto a un cittadino uruguaiano,omosessuale e sposato con un italiano in Spagna ,il diritto a godere di un permesso di soggiorno per motivi famigliari, riconoscendo quindi il suo status di coniuge sia pure ai fini della libera circolazione.
Also this year, the European Parliament, in its Resolution of 13 March 2012, firmly expressed its regret at "the adoption by some Member States of restrictive definitions of 'family', aimed at denying legal protection to same-sex couples and their children; it recalls that EU law is applied without discrimination on the basis of sex or sexual orientation, in accordance with the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.".
Over the past two years, Europe, the Constitutional Court, the courts, universities, the mass media, businesses, civil society in general—and even some representatives of the Church and the Catholic world—have repeatedly reiterated that same-sex couples must be recognized as having the same rights as heterosexual couples.

Allowing same-sex couples to enter civil marriage is a duty for every single parliamentarian.
Dear Members of Parliament and Senators… ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! IT'S ONLY UP TO YOU.
Respect the Constitutional Court's warning to intervene to recognize the rights of homosexual couples;
Listen to the courts that find themselves having to fill a gap due to the lack of a law;
Bring Italy to the Europe where civil rights also include the rights of families formed by homosexual people;
Provide legal protection for same-sex couples and their children, who are still denied it today.
