Ferrara. Maura Chiulli presents "OUT" at Drink a Book

The second event is tomorrow, Wednesday, June 27, at 9:30 pm, for Drink a Book, the tenth edition of the book and author review on gay, lesbian, and transgender issues, again at the Melbookstore in Piazza Trento e Trieste in Ferrara.

The evening's guest will be Maura Chiulli, writer, artist, and performer, as well as head of culture for Arcigay Nazionale, who will present her third book, "OUT, the discrimination of homosexuals," published by Editori Riuniti.

Can you be gay in Italy?
Maura Chiulli's account of "diversity" captures an Italy where ignorance, sexism, and discrimination are the only colors. The Bel Paese proves itself backward compared to the world and Europe, incapable of guaranteeing rights to its homosexual citizens.
Men and women who live, love, and pay taxes even for those who insult them in the streets, mock them from political platforms, and attack them in school and on city streets. The testimonies collected clash with the very idea of "civilization" and spur indignation over a new "Gay Pride."“

The Drinkabook event is organized by Circomassimo Arcigay and Arcilesbica of Ferrara in collaboration with Melbookstore, and enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Ferrara, the technical assistance of Sonika – Area Giovani, and the support of the Chocolat pastry shop on Via Cortevecchia and Nikel oggettistica d'interni on Via Carlo Mayr.

The Drink a Book calendar continues in the coming weeks with the following events:
– Wednesday, July 4: Alessia Muroni – The Circumstances of Love
– date to be confirmed: Alessandro Cecchi Paone – The champion in love
– on July 14th there will also be the presentation of Paola Concia's book "The true story of my white hair" at the Democratic Party Women's Day
