Delegates call for more cohesion

Today, during the Arcigay National Congress, the international Rainbow project against homophobia will be presented. Sessions will continue in the afternoon and evening. The more than one hundred delegates who gathered yesterday are expected to be joined by more, though the number could be significantly lower than the expected 250. Many are men, very few women (the mother of a young gay man was also present, and he decided to follow the congress activities closely). Numerous delegates arrived from other provinces in Emilia-Romagna. Among them was Alberto Bignardi, from Modena, who was somewhat concerned about the rift within the association. "There are two different visions," he commented, "one more autonomist, one more tied to political parties. The Congress should serve to find a synthesis, common ground. But it's also important that all organizational and territorial branches, both local affiliates and the association, be given due consideration." Maura Chiulli, meanwhile, hails from Rimini and hopes that "the journey of these three days will not lose sight of the goal of finding a synthesis, a unity that will increase cohesion and collaboration." The highlight of the event is scheduled for tomorrow, when the voting process will take place with the proclamation of the president and national secretary. The day will begin at 9:00 a.m. with voter accreditation, and at 9:30 a.m. the plenary session will open with the Political Committee's report, the vote on motions, agendas, and the election of the new leadership team.
