On Wednesday, November 20th, the Siena Pansexual Movement is organizing a cultural event during its weekly aperitif to raise funds for the fight against AIDS.
Several Sienese artists have enthusiastically accepted President Giovanni Bacaro's invitation to participate in the evening: Rita Petti, Daniele Sasson, Clelia Busillo, and Massimiliano Cardone will exhibit some of their works, creating works alongside the participants that will then be sold for a free donation. The proceeds from the evening will be donated to LILA, ANLAIDS, and PLUS, and part of the proceeds will be used to fund initiatives to raise awareness among citizens of the social issues the movement promotes, particularly the fight against HIV. All four artists work in the world of figurative art. Rita Petti, a painter and sculptor, painted the Palio of July 2, 2005. Daniele Sasson, artistic director of the "Il Prisma" association, taught for a long time at the G. Galilei scientific high school in Siena and won the "Il Prisma" prize. competition for the performance of the Bravìo di Montepulciano (2010), Clelia Busillo has lived in the Sienese countryside for a long time and expresses herself through both painting and sculpture, also creating furnishing works, and finally Massimiliano Cardone, cartoonist and painter, producer of the famous “Storie da Vegetale”.
“We firmly believe that initiatives like this can make a significant contribution to the fight against all forms of discrimination and to integration, defeating the cultural barriers that still mark our society. Through creativity, it is possible to break out of preconceived notions and look beyond, planning and dreaming to build a better present and future than the one we have become accustomed to or resigned to. Creativity makes us strong, resilient, and hopeful. Our lives, like a work of art, can be shaped and painted.
The event will take place at the La Piazzetta café and bar at Via Montanini 52, starting at 8:00 PM. All residents are invited to attend, as are institutions. Representatives of several LGBT associations from other Tuscan provinces will also be present.
