The New Sanità Theatre presents its educational and cultural project
“THE FACES OF SAN GENNARO – the welcoming Sanità district”
The November 7, 2024 at 3:00 pm, at the Casa dei Cristallini in the Sanità district, the project will be presented The Faces of San Gennaro - the Sanità District that welcomes, a project of the ATS (Association for the Promotion of Youth and Youth in Education) formed by the Nuovo Teatro Sanità, the non-profit cooperative Il Grillo Parlante, the La Casa dei Cristallini association, and the Antinoo Arcigay Napoli association, with the support of the Third Municipality of Naples, the Municipality of Procida, and the Parish of the Basilica of Santa Maria La Sanità. The project is funded by the Department for Family Policies of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers as part of the "Educare Insieme" (Educating Together) project to combat educational poverty and support cultural and educational opportunities for minors.
The aim of this meeting is to present the project and the various activities, whose beneficiaries are 88 boys, including some from the Rione Sanità schools and some from the Villa Fleurent Institute, a number exceeding the initial expected participation thanks to the great interest shown. The project, which began on November 1, 2024 and will last for a year, aims to give them the opportunity to discover the beauty and history of the neighborhood through four main actions, divided into: guided tours, art workshops, meetings with other educational associations, and a trip to Procida. At the end of the project, there will be a final performance in which the students will present the works resulting from their shared artistic and intercultural journey. The project's goal is twofold: to combat educational poverty by offering students cultural and educational tools that would otherwise be difficult to obtain, and to create new learning and growth opportunities for younger generations. The roundtable therefore represents the first step towards creating a bridge between young people and the territory, encouraging a dialogue that fosters inclusion, acceptance, and a sense of belonging to the community.
To achieve these goals, we chose to start with the figure of the patron saint of Naples, San Gennaro, who, through his faces, will take us on a journey that reaches the shores of Procida. As evidenced by the presence of San Quodvultdeus, bishop of Carthage, Naples has always been a place of welcome and inclusion, Ever since several persecuted African exiles fled to our shores and were naturally welcomed. What better figure than that of San Gennaro, "who protects the entire city," could serve as a guide on this journey?
Representatives of local institutions and partner organizations will participate in the event, together with a representative of the IC Villa Fleurent, expert teachers, educators and the children involved in the project, to demonstrate the importance of a shared commitment to promoting youth well-being and building a more inclusive and aware society.
