Antinoo Arcigay Napoli on the meeting in Acerra: No 'drift,' we defend dialogue and art in education.

Stop political attacks that aim to limit school freedom.

We have learned that the League has announced its intention to submit a parliamentary question to Minister Valditara regarding the meeting held last January at the Munari High School in Acerra, which was attended by Mariano Gallo, aka Priscilla.

It should be noted that the presentation by Mariano Gallo, artist and activist, took place at the students' request, in an educational setting and in the presence of teaching staff and the school principal. The meeting provided an opportunity for dialogue and discussion on various important topics, spurred by the students' curiosity and interest.

We believe it is reductive and misleading to characterize what happened as a mere "training" devoid of skills. Mariano Gallo, through his artistic expression and his experience, has been pursuing a path of awareness and reflection on the issues of identity and civil rights for years.

The reported statement about a supposed contrast between what is learned at school and the family environment, taken out of context, is in no way intended to diminish the role of the family, but rather to highlight the complexities that young people sometimes face in reconciling different influences and defining their identity in a changing society.

The vision of an education that only encompasses figures rigidly labeled as "pedagogues" or "psychologists" appears highly limiting in a world that increasingly demands mental flexibility and an understanding of the many facets of human existence. Art and activism, in this sense, can offer valuable perspectives and stimulate critical thinking, which is essential for student development.

We therefore reject the idea of a dangerous "progressive drift," declares Antonello Sannino, president of Antinoo Arcigay Napoli, and we say enough to the political attacks that aim to limit the freedom of schools. We reaffirm the value of open discussion and dialogue in schools, places par excellence dedicated to the integral formation of individuals and citizens, and preparation for the complexity of reality.
