Imagine standing in line for hours, alone, and being told, "You should have thought of that sooner," by someone who knows absolutely nothing about you. Imagine feeling like you're being tricked with misleading or confusing information, coming from the very people who should be protecting you. Imagine walking into a health center and seeing judgmental posters with images of fetuses everywhere. Imagine being deliberately assigned to a bed next to a woman who has just given birth.
All these things happen in Italy, and not only.
Currently, over 20 million people in the European Union are deprived of the fundamental right to make decisions about their own bodies due to lack of access to abortion. This must change. We have launched the European Citizens' Initiative. “My Voice My Choice” to demand that the EU guarantee safe and free access to abortion for all people.

Another September 28th is here—International Safe Abortion Day—and we face a harsh reality: we're still being told what to do with our bodies, making decisions for us. In Poland, women are dying because of the near-total ban on abortion. In Malta, they risk prison. Even in countries where abortion is legal, it is often inaccessible: 64% of gynecologists in Italy and over 50% in Croatia refuse to perform abortions. Furthermore, in many places, abortion care is not free, adding a further burden to those who are already vulnerable and stigmatized, simply because they want the freedom to choose.
