“"In Naples, miracles were performed by Diego Armando Maradona and San Gennaro. In this case, I preferred to draw the latter." these are the words with which the well-known cartoonist of the Metropolis newspaper, Marco Gaucho Filippi, introduced #Facciapride, his original creation for Napoli Pride 2024.
Marco Gaucho Filippi's work represents a stylised San Gennaro with a rainbow mitre and the hashtag #Facciapride.
“The climate in our country is terrible, both from a political and social point of view – Marco Gaucho Filippi also declared We live in Italy in 2024, but it feels like we're treading the ground and breathing the air of the wrong twenty years, the last century. This reactionary government is doing everything it can to discriminate against and ghettoize the LGBTQIA+ community and its demands. The earthly struggle to assert rights continues, but given the hypocrisy and mediocrity of this political class, a miracle would be needed. And this miracle can only be achieved by #Facciapride, the rainbow version of Faccia gialla, the only one capable of dissolving the clots of ignorance, fear, hatred, and violence congealed in the ampoule of the rainbow community and capable of allowing all possible forms of love to flow freely and unfettered.
