“"The Colors of Freedom" in Castellammare di Stabia: Alessandro Cecchi Paone presents his new book at Ubik during Vesuvius Pride.

Tuesday, September 16, at hours 18:30, the library Ubik of Castellammare di Stabia will host the presentation of the book “The colors of freedom” (PIEMME), written and presented by Alessandro Cecchi Paone. The event is part of the rich calendar of events of the Vesuvius Pride, which will see its culmination in the parade on Saturday 20 September on the city seafront.

After fifty years of tireless work as a publicist and activist for a freer and more modern Italy, Cecchi Paone opens up for the first time in an intimate and autobiographical way. The book retraces the joyful, painful, and sometimes grotesque episodes that shaped his civic commitment, driving him to become a leading figure in the fight for civil rights.

The colors of freedom”" is not just a memoir, but a true cultural and political proposal. Through a narrative that combines rigor and humor, the author outlines a secular and transversal manifesto, founded on the centrality of the bodies, affections, and needs of each individual. It is an invitation to liberals and democrats, progressives and conservatives, to unite in a civil alliance for an Italy that fully rejoins the community of open societies, where personal choices, plural families, scientific research, and the end of life are free from moralism and impositions. As the book emphasizes, the pursuit of happiness is a smile colored with hope to which everyone is entitled. The preface to the volume is by Francesca Pascale.

A large audience of guests will be in conversation with the author:

  • Carola Barbato, national coordinator of Co.Re.Com
  • Annalisa di Nuzzo, Councilor for Equal Opportunities of the Municipality of Castellammare di Stabia
  • John Minieri for Stabia Channel
  • Giovanna Salvati for Metropolis

The meeting will be moderated by Antonello Sannino, President of Antinoo Arcigay Naples.

The event represents an important opportunity for reflection and discussion on the issues of civil rights and freedom, in the midst of a week dedicated to pride and visibility.
