Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11 a.m., The parents of AGEDO, National Association of parents, relatives, friends of LGBTQAI+ people and Professor Roberto Baiocco, Full Professor in Developmental Psychology and Educational Psychology at Sapienza University of Rome will be at our headquarters in Via dei Salici 11 for an informal morning open to all, Parents, children, LGBTQAI+ people, teachers, educators, health professionals and anyone who wants to ask questions, find answers or simply listen to stories from those who have actually experienced them in a welcoming and warm environment.

AGEDO was born in 1993 in an era profoundly different from the current one when a group of parents began to reclaim normality for their sons, daughters and their families, characterizing themselves as a sort of friend's phone to whom After their children came out, families could turn to To share their experiences and gain tools to understand and overcome prejudices and fears. Times have changed, thanks in part to the work of all those associations that have been working in the local community for years, but AGEDO still needs to exist, hoping that all parents, families of LGBTQIA+ people, and society as a whole will welcome coming out with complete peace of mind and without the need for special tools.

Some of the stories of the parents of AGEDO Roma are collected in the volume “How beautiful! Mothers and fathers of lesbian daughters and gay sons share their stories.” published in 2019 and edited by Professor Roberto Baiocco, lecturer at Sapienza University of Rome and researcher specialized in topics such as Risk and protective factors in adolescence and young adulthood, minority stress, sexual orientation and gender identity, homoparenting, and child well-being. Since 2010, Baiocco has also been Head of Service 6 as you are for the study, counseling, and psychological support of adolescents, young adults, couples, and families on issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity.
