Inauguration of the Arcigay Salerno CAD

The Salerno Anti-Discrimination Center (CAD) was inaugurated on Saturday, February 21st at 11:00 a.m. on Via Romualdo II Guarna. The service, created by the Arcigay Salerno "Marcella Di Folco" Territorial Committee and the S5 Social Area through a process of co-design and co-construction, in collaboration with the Department of Social Policies and the Department of Equal Opportunities, led by outgoing Deputy Mayor Dr. Paky Memoli, will offer support and guidance to victims of discrimination and violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Attending the event were Gabriele Piazzoni, Secretary General of Arcigay; Emanuele Avagliano, President of the Arcigay Salerno "Marcella Di Folco" Territorial Committee; Francesco Napoli, head of the CAD; Daniela Lourdes Falanga, delegate for the fight against the mafia, prisons, and legality; Anna Claudia Petrillo, delegate for territorial relations for Arcigay Nazionale; Paola De Roberto, outgoing Councilor for Social Policies of the Municipality of Salerno; and Fabio Polverino, former City Councilor of Salerno.

This is an important moment for Salerno's entire LGBTQIA+ community, as well as for all residents, to have a service in the city that can help those who have experienced discrimination. The initiative will also spark new projects and events to raise awareness about hate speech and sexual health, activities that have always been a hallmark of Arcigay Salerno throughout the region.
