Caivano/Naples, February 19, 2026 – A deep and significant meeting took place between Father Maurizio Patriciello, always at the forefront for legality and the rebirth of the territory, and Antonello Sannino, president of Antinoo Arcigay Naples.
A face to face “frank, loyal and sincere”, born primarily from the need to express the utmost solidarity with the parish priest of Parco Verde. Father Patriciello was, in fact, the victim, in recent days, of yet another vile act of intimidation through a threatening letter, a threat that forced the authorities to further increase his level of protection.
The meeting was not limited to solidarity, but laid the foundation for operational and concrete collaboration.
Statement by Antonello Sannino, President of Antinoo Arcigay Napoli:
“We are here to offer our deepest, physical and emotional support to Father Maurizio at this delicate and challenging time for his personal safety. But we also wanted to take this opportunity to begin a profound dialogue, which we believe is more vital than ever. In a world sadly torn by wars and divisions, it is essential to build bridges of peace and create spaces for discussion. Today, it is more necessary than ever to join forces, build a united front against hatred, and break down every form of prejudice that divides and creates suffering.”
A shared commitment in the Caivano area
On the sidelines of the meeting, Father Patriciello and Sannino agreed on the desire to start a common path In the challenging context of Caivano and the Naples metropolitan area more generally, the goal is to transform the discussion into concrete actions and initiatives of solidarity, working together against all forms of hatred and prejudice.
The Caivano area is a complex place, bearing deep wounds but also great seeds of hope. The community's memory is still marked by the tragic death of Maria Paola Gaglione, which occurred during the terrible night between 11 and 12 September 2020.
Precisely in response to that painful wound, a fundamental garrison was born inside the Green Park: the Anti-Discrimination Center against Homophobic and Transphobic Hatred. This important reality, Rainbow Code, was desired by the Municipality of Caivano, financed by UNAR (National Office Against Racial Discrimination) and actively supported by a network of third sector entities which includes Pochos, GIC Foundation, Qualifica Group and the association “A childhood to live”.
From these roots, and from the new bridge of mutual understanding built today between Father Maurizio Patriciello and the LGBTQIA+ people represented by Antinoo Arcigay Napoli, the aim is to generate social antibodies against violence, crime, and discrimination.
