Faced with the dark shadows that are reaching our city, as local associations defending rights, we feel the strong need to shine a light.
We live in a historical period in which the rights of minorities and the most vulnerable are constantly threatened by a political narrative that regards differences with contempt, as if they were a threat to what they define as "normality.".
It is particularly concerning that the "Noi per Vanacci" association will be launched in our city. We feel the urgent need to demonstrate to our city that there is more than the homophobic, sexist, racist, and ableist rhetoric that is rampant from increasingly present figures on the Viterbo scene.
Because of this Thursday, September 19th at 6:30 PM we will all meet again Piazza delle Erbe to illuminate Viterbo and to reiterate that our city must be an open and safe place for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or physical or mental condition, where fascist-inspired movements cannot be tolerated, and where there exists a civil society that views diversity not as a threat but as a precious asset to be protected and learned from.
We therefore invite all the institutions, associations and private citizens who, like us, want a city in which there is no room for hatred and discrimination to join us and shine a further light on our city.
