Naples: UIL, ARCI, and ARCIGAY sign protocol against all forms of discrimination in the workplace.

Sgambati, Anniciello and Sannino: “"Through synergies and collaboration, we can strengthen our actions and tools to prevent and combat discrimination in the workplace."”

One in five people has experienced workplace discrimination based on their sexual identity, more than 40% of LGBTQIA+ or migrant people have been discriminated against or suffered a disadvantage in the workplace. Isolation, bullying, verbal or physical harassment, and even actual obstacles to career advancement, demotions, unequal pay, and layoffs are some of the real and concrete aspects of workplace discrimination related to ethnicity, disability, gender identity, and sexual orientation. These are the reasons why UIL Napoli and Campania, ARCI Napoli, and Antinoo ARCIGAY Napoli have joined forces in a memorandum of understanding aimed at preventing, combating, and supporting people in the workplace and in society against all forms of discrimination.

The protocol signed this morning at the UIL Campania headquarters in Naples, in Varco Pisacane, by the general secretary of UIL Campania, Giovanni Sgambati, Mariano Anniciello, president of Arci Napoli Aps, and Antonello Sannino, president of Antinoo Arcigay Napoli, provides for synergistic and shared actions, starting from bargaining, through training for union delegates (RSU/RSA), union leaders, operators and employers, up to the organization of a network of services and listening and information desks to support discriminated workers.

The UIL, ARCI, and ARCIGAY Napoli agreement also includes the sharing and launch of communication and awareness campaigns on the issue.

The protocol strengthens and ratifies a path already shared for some time between UIL, ARCI and ARCIGAY, through targeted and effective tools and actions because we are convinced that with the synergy and sharing of our knowledge, professionalism and experiences we can achieve better results to combat hatred and discrimination first and foremost in the workplace but also in society.”, is what Sgambati, Anniciello and Sannino affirm.

Present at the press conference to present and sign the protocol were Camilla Iovino, regional secretary of UIL Campania; Stefania Giunta, head of the Coordination of Equal Opportunities and Gender Policies of UIL Campania; and Virginia Verrone, head of the Mobbing and Stalking desk of UIL Campania.
